I've been thinking about what my mind will be doing while my body is recuperating. The easy answer is recuperating too. I think it will be a challenge to fill some time, but I'd like to do it with some purpose. I've already been accumulating music on my new Zune, along with some pictures to look at and some podcasts to learn from. I have a new flat screen TV in the bedroom and have pulled together some DVD's.
Now I'm organizing my "favorites." I'm taking a page from Norman Cousins, and finding some things to make me laugh. Check out the funniest TV shows on the link in the heading.
Of course there's always HULU for searching for a laugh. I highly recommend Family Guy.
www.hulu.com - Google SearchAll of the time spent recovering will be useless unless it's organized (I'm an MBTI "J") so I plan to visit:
Naturally I'll be re-habbing and exercising eventually, visiting with folks and talking on the phone. I'm sure the time will fly, but never in human history have there been so many ways to pass the time.
If you have any suggestions for interesting podcasts, videos or websites, send them along!

Good one for keeping the mind active is www.mentalfloss.com. Games, a new brain teaser every morning, trivia, and blog posts about the weird and wacky. Highly recommended. Of course, you know me, I also recommend the Baseball Encyclopedai or its online cousin, www.baseball-reference.com. Just start with a name (obscure or otherwise) and you'll be amazes at where it can take you! Sending you ALL positive thoughts!!
Hey Uncle Harry
I hope you feel a lot better after the surgery. You have my best wishes. As for the recuperation, there is a website called watchxonline.com that has plenty of great tv shows and apparently movies (I have not looked at the quality of those though). It should keep you very entertained. Once again, my best wishes.
With Love,
Wheeler

I might suggest a few analog activities like reading a book, doing some drawings, some crossword puzzles, learning the harmonica, or perhaps taking up knitting (Jen's suggestion).
Thanks...I have a stack of books. Not sure you want an unsteady hand holding a knitting needle. At least I won't be able to run with them...or scissors.

Hi Harry- Please sign me up for Team Newman! You will be climbing mountains like Hawaii again. Of course, everything in life is a journey and having goals, as you do, will help you get there. You have helped so many others achieve their goals. Recent example: the great meeting you led during HHD last year. So for now, sit back, relax and enjoy the flight. Trust others to do what you do so well- bring healing and a brighter future vision. I like reading leadership and survival in the face of adversity books like "Endurance" by Ernest Shackleton. Lance Armstrong's "It's Not About the Bike" is also a good read. When you are ready the Appalachian Trail is waiting for us. My kids just gave me hiking sticks (so I can do my hiking schtick). Doing the Trail in pieces, I have done closer sections like Bear Mountain. Let's go for a walk when you are ready. See you soon and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Ira Richman
Several years ago I had neck surgery....I managed by getting out of the house as soon as I was able. There was an old time movie, radio, poster, book place within walking distance...used to rent old movies, walk home then watch 'em....did this for several weeks....
